Privacy Policy

NYC Network Matcher ("the app") is a relational organizing tool for volunteers. It helps a volunteer see which people on a shared outreach list they already know, so they can reach out. This policy explains what data the app touches and what it does, and does not, do with it.

Google user data (when you use "Continue with Google")

Connecting Google is optional. If you choose it, the app requests the following read-only permissions:

• Contacts and other contacts (people you've emailed): names and email addresses.
• Calendar events: the names and email addresses of people listed as attendees on your events, from roughly the last 12 months.

This data is read directly in your browserfrom Google and is used for a single purpose: to compare those names against the campaign's shared outreach list and show you the overlap. The comparison list of names is sent once to the app's server to compute matches and is not stored or logged there. The app never reads your email messages; no Gmail permission is requested, and never modifies anything in your Google account.

We do not sell, rent, or share your Google data with anyone, and we do not use it for advertising or any purpose beyond the contact-matching described above.

NYC Network Matcher's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Contacts you upload manually

If you upload a file instead (LinkedIn, vCard, Google Takeout, Telegram, calendar export) or paste a list of names, that data is parsed entirely in your browser. The raw file is never uploaded. A copy of the parsed list is kept in your browser's local storage on your device so you don't have to re-import on return visits; you can clear it anytime with the "Forget it" button on the upload page. As with Google data, the parsed names are sent to the server only to compute matches and are not stored there.

Data we do store

The app stores, in a private shared database (Airtable):

• The name and email you enter when you sign in.
• Your ratings of how well you know specific people on the campaign list, and your outreach progress (e.g. "will message", "messaged").
• Whether you opted in to reminder emails, so we can send (and stop sending) them.

This is the campaign's working data and is visible to the campaign organizers running the tool. It is not your contacts or Google data: only your own name, email, and the ratings you make.

Your choices and how to revoke access

• You can revoke the app's access to your Google account anytime at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
• You can clear the contacts stored in your browser with the "Forget it" button on the upload page.
• To have your name, email, and ratings removed from the shared database, or with any privacy question, email handzelmatthew@gmail.com.
